A City Council bill that would have required Baltimore restaurants to post grades based on health inspections was defeated Monday evening by one vote. Had the bill passed, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she would have signed it. 

Timothy Virts, a 39-year-old Baltimore County resident, admitted in Court Monday that he had killed Bobbie Joe Cortez, 36, in March 2014. He then fled with one of the couple's daughters to South Carolina where he was apprehended by police.

As Towson booms with multimillion dollar building projects and revitalization efforts in older areas, residents say something is missing: open space.

State and local lawmakers called on Baltimore school officials Monday to rein in policies and practices that led the district to pay employees  $46 million last year in accrued leave, bonuses, overtime, stipends and other compensation.
