Adam Jones' grand slam helps O's complete first three-game sweep in nearly a year
Adam Jones has 6,988 plate appearances in his 13-year major league career. How many grand slams do you think he has? Six? Five, at least? The answer is two.
Jones hit his second career grand slam Aug. 29 in a 10-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, helping the Orioles complete their first sweep since they took three games from the Seattle Mariners from Aug. 28-30, 2017.
It was Jones' first grand slam since July 28, 2008, on the road against the New York Yankees. He came into the Aug. 29 game with 125 career at-bats with the bases full and a .272 average and 83 RBIs in those situations.
With the sweep, the Orioles moved to 40-94 -- the last team in the majors to reach 40 wins.
