On May 24, Dylan Bundy struck out a career-high 14 and pitched a two-hitter for the second complete game of his career, helping the Orioles earn a 9-3 win over the White Sox.
Bundy's 14 strikeouts came one shy of the Orioles' franchise record since they moved to Baltimore, last set in 2007 by Erik Bedard.
"That's as good as you're going to see a guy pitch," manager Buck Showalter said.
The win also spared the Orioles the indignity of the majors' worst record at the time, moving them 1 1/2 games ahead of the 15-32 White Sox. Chicago would finish the season with 15 more wins than the Orioles.
