Jockey Stevica Djuric spent several minutes motionless on the Pimlico Race Course turf after Svindahl threw him coming out of the final turn in the third race. He quickly was released from the hospital, track officials said.

Maryland Jockey Club spokesman David Joseph said Djuric was conscious and moving all of his extremities before he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. His left arm was swollen, his left hip was "a little sore," and he had a bruise on his face, Joseph said, but Djuric already had come back to the track to pick up his belongings by 4 p.m.

The Florida-based jockey was not scheduled to ride any of the remaining 10 races at Pimlico on Saturday.

Svindahl fell to the turf, too, but got up and galloped down the homestretch.
