Orioles hitters found their groove last week, batting a combined .293 with a .333 on-base percentage, which translated into an average of 7.3 runs a game. Okay, so that number was inflated by a 16-run outburst against the Red Sox on Friday, but they still scored fewer than four runs just once in the six games against the A’s and Sox. Rookie Trey Mancini continues to swing the bat with surprising consistency and led the club with 11 hits, eight RBI and a .478 average for the week. Jonathan Schoop continued to roll, batting .346 with two home runs and seven RBI. Adam Jones was right there, too, with a .360 average, but almost all of his production came in a two-homer, four-hit performance on Monday. Manny Machado’s average sagged a bit with a 6-for-26 performance, but – as usual – he continued to deliver big, key hits like his extra-inning walk off home run on Wednesday. (Steven Senne / AP)
