Otis Rolley puts his name out there, in chalk

If he doesn't become mayor, maybe Otis Rolley could make it as a graffiti artist.

The words "Otis Rolley for Mayor" turned up this week on a couple strategically chosen sidewalks: one in front of The Sun's Calvert Street offices and another, creepily enough, in front of City Hall reporter Julie Scharper's Mount Vernon apartment building.

The words looked like they'd been spray-painted in white, though Rolley campaign manager Dan Fee assured me it was chalk. (The Sun was able to power-wash the words away, and Monday night's rain faded the message at Scharper's building.)

"With all due respect to your newspaper, sometimes we feel we have to bring things directly to the door to get the paper to pay attention to this race," Fee said.
