Here are some of the major events in the Baltimore-Washington region's effort to secure the 2012 Olympics:
June 1998: Washington-Baltimore Regional 2012 Coalition announced.
Dec. 15, 2000: DC 2012 submits 631-page bid to the United States Olympic Committee.
June 10-13, 2001: USOC conducts site-evaluation visit to region.
Oct. 26, 2001: USOC selects DC 2012 as one of four finalists, joining New York, San Francisco and Houston.
April 10: DC 2012 submits bid addendum to USOC.
June 28-30: USOC conducts second site visit to Baltimore-Washington region.
Aug. 27: USOC selects New York and San Francisco as finalists.
The USOC will select the U.S. candidate on Nov. 3. The International Olympic Committee will make its final host city selection in the fall of 2005.
