Navy tops Longwood

FARMVILLE, VA. — Greg Sprink scored 28 points to lead Navy to a 88-72 win over Longwood in both teams' season opener tonight.

Navy (1-0) led by as many as 21 points late in the first half and took a 49-33 lead halftime over the Lancers, who are playing in their first season as an official Division One team after a four-year reclassification process.

The Mids, who scored 25 points off Longwood's 22 turnovers, trailed only in the early minutes of play and took the lead for good on a layup by Adam Teague with 15:42 to play in the first.

Chris Harris added 12 points for Navy, and Teague and Kaleo Kina each had 11.

Kirk Williams led Longwood (0-1) with 18 points, Lamar Barrett added 17, Dana Smith had 11 and Ryan Bogan had 10.
