Relationships are hard.
Take Charles Village's Libby Picken, or Lazer Libby as she's known on-stage with her band Lazerbitch. She's had more uncomfortable dating situations than she'd care to remember.
"I had a boyfriend that when we first started dating was hitting on someone else at a club while I was there. I had to explain to him why that was not cool," she said. "And I dated a guy who broke up with me because his psychic told him to."
Once on a date, she slipped into the bathroom ready to take the relationship to the next level and came out only to find the bed--perfectly normal when she went to the bathroom--had turned into a fully cranked-up Craftmatic. There was also the time, too late in a relationship, when she found out her boyfriend was racist. Another boyfriend began to blur the line between the real world and the online role-playing game World of Warcraft.
"I did learn a lot," says Picken of her dating experiences. For now, she says she's single and music is her life.
Knowing how to react in uncomfortable situations can be difficult. Still, trial and error isn't the only way to go.
