Parking spot prompts shooting, Towson student housing, new Baltimore slogan

FROM LAST NIGHT
An ongoing dispute between two neighbors over a parking space in North Baltimore ended Friday when police charged Dennis Padgett, 34, with shooting two men outside of his Ramblewood home.  

As the 2015 legislative season is about to commence in Annapolis, newly elected lawmakers have arrived to set up their offices, while a movers parked outside of the governor's mansion wait to whisk the O'Malley family to their new home in the city's Homeland neighborhood.

Baltimore County Administrative law Judge John E. Beverungen  began hearings Monday on whether a proposed Towson student housing project, York 101, will go forward.

In a case closely watched across Maryland, relatives of Manuel Espina, a Prince George’s County man killed by police, asked the state’s top court Monday to strike down a law that cut their damage award from $11.5 million to $4000,000.  

Episcopal Bishop Heather Cook, 58, who has been accused of killing bicyclist Thomas Palermo, 41, of Anneslie, in North Roland Park last month, while driving drunk and texting, is expected to remain jailed after a judge on Monday upheld her $2.5 million bail --- an amount her attorney says she cannot post.
