An icy start to today’s commute with sleet and freezing rain will turn to all rain as the day progresses and temperatures rise to a high of 39. Overnight, the mercury will fall to 30. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation today. Winds will be out of the west at 3 to 6 mph.

FROM LAST NIGHT
The meeting of the executive council of the Episcopal Church in Linthicum Heights over the weekend didn’t discuss Bishop Suffragan Heather Elizabeth Cook, 58, and the developments surrounding a fatal crash on Roland Avenue Dec. 27 when she struck and killed bicyclist Thomas Palermo, 41, of Anneslie.

Baltimore police are mourning the death of Officer Craig Chandler, who died Friday evening as a result of injuries sustained in a crash during a Nov. 23 pursuit in the 2200 block of Kirk Ave.

Baltimore County Superintendent Dallas Dance as asked for a $1.5 billion budget, which translates to an increase of 8.7 percent in county funding for the next fiscal year.

A new reservoir in Fullerton that will replace the open-air reservoir at Druid Hill Park, will feature three covered water tanks with a capacity of 62 million gallons. The project is slated to be completed by 2018.

Regardless of the winter weather, many area residents whose jobs require them to work outdoors, must report to work even when temperatures fall well below freezing and “Code Blue” advisories are issued to get the homeless to shelters.
