My first week at The Baltimore Sun offered me an opportunity to learn more about how things at the paper operate and to meet some of the talented people that are responsible for producing graphics and interactive content.
I started by learning how to do a site audit of baltimoresun.com. This involved working with the Tribune's CMS to round out section content, add in story thumbnails and ensure that nothing was out of place or malfunctioning. It was interesting to learn more about how the content was stored and managed.
I was then given the chance to work with Dana Amihere to fix some of the responsive functions of a food truck app. The popular app is being redesigned to work more effectively on mobile devices. It was interesting working on the design changes and thinking through some of the unique problems that developing for mobile presents.
I've had the chance to get settled in a bit and am looking forward to working on more exciting projects in the weeks to come.
