The Brewer's Art's Scotch egg

The restaurant in a lovely Mount Vernon townhouse is known for its beer and its American cuisine with European leanings. Its most recent chef, Andrew Weinzirl, pays respect to menu favorites like the Scotch egg appetizer. It's a fabulous dish. On one visit, two duck egg halves with shimmery yellow yolks were cradled by crispy merguez sausage shells (another time, it was a mushroom and miso “sausage”) set atop a spicy mayonnaise sauce.
