The eCash cards can be used to buy items in Staples stores or online.

Consumers can drop off tech devices such as laptops, tablets, printers, hard drives and mobile phones in stores or trade them in through Staples.com with free shipping.

"Staples is not only committed to helping the planet, but to providing small businesses and consumers with a way to receive value for their used electronics," said Mark Buckley, vice president of environmental affairs forStaples, in the announcement.

The retailer also offers free recycling of office electronics that have no trade-in value because of age or condition. The chain has recycled 64 million pounds of e-waste since 2007, including monitors, computers, printers and shredders.

Check with Staples to see how the program works and which products are eligible.
