Monument City Brewing will debut two craft beers

Monument City Brewing Co. plans a limited distribution of its "honest craft beers" starting next month, the Baltimore-based craft brewery said today.

The nearly year-old brewery, operated by brothers Matt and Ken Praay, will debut their 51 IPA, brewed with 51 percent rye malt, and an all-malt American Brown Ale.

"Our goal is to become one of Baltimore's go-to beers," Matt Praay said in the announcement. "This city has a great craft beer community, and we're looking forward to being part of it."

The brothers are working with Peabody Heights Brewery and Ernie Igot, an award-winning brewmaster with more than 35 years experience.

The brewery is named after a Baltimore moniker, "The Monumental City," given by President John Quincy Adams after visiting in 1827.
