Americans save less for retirement, even though they are more uncertain about the future.’s survey of American’s financial security shows one troubling trend:  29 percent of workers are saving less for retirement than a year ago.

This at a time when 47 percent of workers are less comfortable about their savings than a year ago.

You would hope that if financial security is growing, workers would salt away more for an uncertain future, even if it’s only in an account with no volatility such as a savings account.

Other findings in the survey: one-third of those age 30 to 60 feel more uncertain about their jobs than a year ago.

Thirty percent have seen their net worth drop from a year only, while one out of five have a higher net worth than last year.
