Casino revenues not reflected in school funding

In the seven years since Maryland’s first casinos opened, they have pumped $1.7 billion into the state’s education trust fund. During the same period, state funding for public schools has increased by $979 million – and some jurisdictions that host casinos, such as Baltimore, have sustained funding cuts.
