Boys Cross Country: Century’s Hayden Hebert finishes sixth, Liberty boys take second at state meet
Carroll County placed nine athletes in the top 25 at the 2A state meet, and Hebert led the way with a sixth-place finish in 16:17.82. The Knights placed third with 127 points. - Liberty visits Elkton in a 2A state quarterfinal, while Westminster travels to Mervo for a 3A quarterfinal matchup. The games are set for Nov. 22, 2019.
- The Owls (9-2) have not lost since dropping their first two games of the season, and much of that can be attributed to a defense led by junior Erick Stranko and seniors Ethan Zepp, Matt Annulis, Haden Hoff, Jack Conrad and Tre Price.
- Paul Libbee was Liberty’s third leading receiver going into last week’s Class 2A West playoff game against Glenelg.

- Grace Siehler beat Middletown freshman Erin McQuitty in 34.9 seconds and helped the Cavaliers finish second as a team with 73 points. Winters Mill junior Kathryn Hopkins finished third in 20:38.9.

- The Lions boys cross country team repeated as county, regional, and state champions for a fourth straight season last fall, and captured their fourth straight county meet title Thursday by placing five athletes in the top 10.
- The Lions are 5-0 since an 0-2 start and have outscored those five opponents 176-45 leading up to an anticipated Week 8 clash with Westminster (5-2, 4-0 CCAL) that will determine the county champion.
