Drinking less alcohol is a common New Year’s resolution, and trends like “dry January” or going on a Whole30 diet encourage people to cut out alcohol altogether for a short period of time. Does cutting down on or cutting out alcohol actually improve your health? To understand the benefits of drinking less, it’s important to recognize the short- and long-term negative effects alcohol can have on your body.
While that is undeniably shitty, and while I think you should keep trying to communicate with your ex and sending him updates, I would also encourage you to make all of your decisions going forward in ways that reflect the reality of the situation — namely that you’re going this alone.
