Showtime's Diablo Cody-scripted comedy pilot "The United States of Tara" is reportedly getting closer to a series pick-up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Friends" veteran Alexa Junge has been brought in as executive producer should the DreamWorks TV-produced pilot go to series.
In addition, Portia Doubleday and Keir Gilchrist will join Toni Collette and John Corbett in the single-camera pilot.
Collette plays Tara, a housewife and mother who suffers from multiple personality disorder (the funny kind, apparently, not the serious sort that requires hospitalization and drug treatments and tears families apart). Corbett will play her husband, a man trying to understand the changes his wife is going through.
Gilchrist ("The Winner") and Doubleday will play her teenage kids.
Production on "Tara" will begin in April with Craig Gillespie directing.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
