There's a dichotomy at work here with Madame LaLaurie on "AHS." In present day, she's an interesting character -- befuddled, bewildered, racist. But she's having her own arc of character development and that's not something we hate. However: The Madame LaLaurie of the 1830s is a straight-up baby-killing, slave-torturing monster. And it's made all the worse because she's based on a real-life woman who was notorious for torturing and killing her slaves. Can the TV character be redeemed at all? Hmm.
