'Criminal Minds'

Now in its ninth season, this typically dark drama's still-strong ratings (plus its ever-present repeats on both A&E and ION) indicate the size of its continuing following ... but it also has its critics, mainly because of the bizarre and frequently gruesome crimes it depicts. That's what the show is, though, and it's surprising if anyone doesn't know that by now. Plus, as star Joe Mantegna has said, the program's technical advisers maintain that even the episodes' worst felonies don't come close to what they know to be actual cases.
