The comedians will play a married couple in the 20th Century Fox comedy "Date Night," reports Variety.
The Shawn Levy-directed comedy based on Josh Klausner's script will center on a couple's routine date night that becomes much more than a mere dinner and a movie. Levy, who is returning to familiar ground with "Night of the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian," thought up the concept of "Date Night."
"I wanted to do a relatable, grounded character comedy about marriage and the lengths we go to preserve the spark," Levy says. "Tina and Steve are smart and relatable, and the tone of their comedy perfectly fits this film."
Production will begin next year during each of the actors hiatus from their sitcoms. Both Fey and Carell are up for Emmys for their work on " 30 Rock" and " The Office," respectively, and their shows are going head-to-head in the comedy category.
Carell last starred in the big-screen adaptation of " Get Smart," while Fey starred in the hit comedy " Baby Mama" and just wrapped shooting "This Side of Truth," co-starring, written by and directed by Ricky Gervais.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
