Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is expected to star in a long-in-coming sequel to "Escape to Witch Mountain."
Currently titled merely "Witch Mountain" (perhaps on the plausible assumption that nobody in the target audience will have any awareness of the original), the project is set up at Disney with Andy Fickman directing.
Disney also released the 1975 original, which starred Eddie Albert, Ray Milland and Donald Pleasance.
The sequel-ish-thing will pick up where that first movie left off, with The Rock playing a cab driver who discovers a pair of kids with magical powers, according to the industry trade papers.
The Rock worked with Fickman on his next project, the Disney family comedy "The Game Plan." Also on tap for the "Doom" and "Be Cool" star are the long-delayed "Southland Tales" and a supporting role in next summer's comedy "Get Smart."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
