Russell Brand Wants to be 'Arthur'

The year of the '80s remake continues.

The Hollywood Reporter claims British comedian Russell Brand, most recently seen as a sex-obsessed rock star in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," is developing a remake of the 1981 film "Arthur" for Warner Bros.

That film starred Dudley Moore as a rich, oft-drunk playboy who falls for penniless Liza Minelli. Sir John Gielgud stole the movie with his portrayal of Arthur's faithful butler Hobson. Brand is positioned to take over the Moore role, but no other names have been attached to the remake.

Brand, meanwhile, is best known recently for being forced off his BBC radio show after a series of inappropriate voicemails to "Fawlty Towers" star Andrew Sachs.
