FOX Makes It 'Unan1mous' Wednesday

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, March 22, 2006

The "American Idol" tide lifted all of FOX's boats once again Wednesday -- including that of new series "Unan1mous" -- giving the network a ratings win. The news was not as good for new shows on ABC ("The Evidence") and NBC ("Heist").

FOX averaged a 9.8 rating/15 share in primetime to score a fairly easy Nielsen victory. CBS finished second at 7.2/11, and ABC and NBC tied for third at 7.0/11 (ABC gathered slightly more total viewers than both NBC and CBS). UPN came in fifth with a 2.7/4, beating The WB's 1.5/2.

The adults 18-49 title also went to FOX, which grabbed a 6.6 rating in the advertisers' favorite demographic. ABC took second with a 4.4, topping NBC's 3.6 and CBS' 3.2. UPN averaged 1.8, doubling the 0.9 for The WB.

An extra installment of "Deal or No Deal," 8.9/14, won the 8 p.m. hour for NBC. "Bones," 7.0/11, put FOX in second. ABC was third with "George Lopez" and "Freddie." CBS' comedies "Out of Practice," 4.8/8, and "Courting Alex," 4.5/7, each suffered big drops after moving from more comfortable Monday-night slots. "America's Next Top Model" posted a 3.6/6 for UPN, easily beating a "One Tree Hill" rerun on The WB.

FOX took over at 9 p.m. with the elimination of Kevin Covais from "Idol," 15.8/23, and the debut of "Unan1mous," 9.5/14 (ratings for the latter may come down some as "Idol" ran a couple minutes past 9:30). ABC moved up to second with a new "Lost," 9.6/14. "Criminal Minds," 7.7/11, was third for CBS, while NBC's "Law & Order," 6.3/9, took a hit in its new, earlier timeslot. "Veronica Mars" kept UPN in front of The WB, which went with a "Gilmore Girls" repeat.

At 10 p.m., "CSI: NY" delivered a 9.1/13 for CBS. The premiere of "The Evidence" averaged 6.3/10 for ABC (with a slight assist from "Lost," which ended at 10:01), while "Heist" could abscond with only a 5.9/10 on NBC.
