Originally appearing in the mid-90's indie title "EightBall" written and illustrated by Daniel Clowes, this darkly comedic comic earned critical acclaim and a cult both in print and on the big screen. The 2001 film stars <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB000516" title="Thora Birch" href="/topic/entertainment/thora-birch-PECLB000516.topic">Thora Birch</a> and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB002594" title="Scarlett Johansson" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/scarlett-johansson-PECLB002594.topic">Scarlett Johansson</a> as Enid and Rebecca, the two atypical teenagers figuring out their lives during the summer after their high school graduation. Clowes also adapted the screenplay which earned several awards and major nominations (including Best Adaption nominations from the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVHST000005" title="Academy Awards" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/academy-awards-EVHST000005.topic">Oscars</a> and the Writer's Guild).
