'Real World'-er Arrested for Biting Boyfriend

Just call her Hurricane Paula.

Paula Ann Meronek, the blond roommate on "The Real World: Key West," was arrested early Sunday morning (July 9) in Cromwell, Conn., for allegedly biting her boyfriend during a domestic dispute, report news sources.

According to the Middletown Press, Meronek, 25, and her boyfriend John Alyward, 24, were out earlier in the evening and had an argument, causing him to leave her and return home. Meronek arrived later, only to find that Alyward refused to let her in. Events escalated and she allegedly bit him several times on the arms and hands before he was able to push her off and call the police.

Police took the reality show star into custody around 3:04 a.m., and later she was released on bond. Alyward was also arrested for disorderly conduct for blocking "her entry into what is her legal residence."

In Middlesex Superior Court Monday morning, Meronek was charged with third-degree assault, which means she faces up to a year in prison if convicted. She's due back in court on Aug. 11.

On MTV.com, Meronek is described as "confrontational, yet sensitive; bitchy, yet likeable; damaged, yet self-aware; attractive, yet insecure" and is still "connected to her abusive ex-boyfriend."

The show's producers also paint her as a hard worker who balances her career by "partying relentlessly."

"The Real World" is currently in its 17th season, and its locale has challenged the "seven strangers picked to live in a house" with three hurricanes. This season the cast members not only have to interact with each other, but must also open and run Key West's first Mystic Tan Sunless Tanning salon.
