The opening filmed piece was fantastic, as hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway got "Inception"-ed by Alec Baldwin. But they're actors; they should be good in a comic bit like that. On stage, their nerves showed a little, but they also projected such a game, let's-put-on-a-show vibe in their opening remarks ("It was a good year for lesbians!") that it didn't really matter. Sadly, the energy of the opening didn't carry through the show as a whole, as Hathaway tried really hard to sell her bits and Franco seemed mostly aloof.
