No. 7 'My Generation' (ABC)

Television has more than its share of documentary-style comedies, and there have been a handful of dramas to adopt the conceit as well. Almost no show in either genre, however, has owned its docu-ness the way "My Generation" does. A group of high-school students in Austin shares their dreams with a filmmaker shortly before they graduate in 2000, who then catches up with them 10 years later.
As you might expect, things haven't turned out quite the way the former classmates thought (if it had, there wouldn't be much drama in the drama). What's unexpected -- and a treat to watch -- are some of the small moments the documentary captures. Coupled with several strong performances from the likes of Keir O'Donnell, Anne Son, Kelli Garner and Daniella Alonso -- and a universality of high-school and early-adulthood experience that's not specific to any generation -- "My Generation" has the potential to continue surprising us.
