On NBC's "Heroes," Masi Oka's character learned to use his superpowers to cheat at cards. In his first big screen splash, Oka will attempt a similar trick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oka is in talks to play a supporting role in "21," a Columbia release based on Ben Mezrich's real-life best-seller "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions." As the title of the book suggests, the film will be about a group of young men who utilized a variety of intellectual tricks to win millions gambling.
Jim Sturgess is already in place to star in the film, set to be directed by Robert Luketic and begin production in Boston and Las Vegas in February.
Oka was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for his breakout co-starring role as Hiro Nakamura on NBC's "Heroes." Oka's next big screen appearance will be in the ping-pong comedy "Balls of Fury."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
