Former "Just Shoot Me" star Laura San Giacomo is headed back to television in the TNT pilot "Grace."
San Giacomo, Leon Rippy ("Deadwood") and Bokeem Woodbine ("Ray," "Blade: The Series") have all signed on to the show, which stars Holly Hunter as a burned-out Oklahoma City detective who's visited by an angel offering her a shot at redemption.
Rippy, who played bar owner Tom Nuttall on "Deadwood" and currently co-stars in "Gridiron Gang," will play the angel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. San Giacomo is set to play Hunter's best friend, a forensic scientist, while Woodbine will play a convict who can also see the angel.
In addition to "Grace," San Giacomo has also signed for a recurring part on The CW's "Veronica Mars" this season, which will reunite her with her "Just Shoot Me" co-star, Enrico Colantoni.
Elsewhere on the casting front, Ty Burrell ("Out of Practice") and model Brooklyn Decker have joined NBC's comedy pilot "Lipshitz Saves the World." The show centers on a teenager (Jack Carpenter) who discovers he might hold the key to rescuing Earth from destruction.
Burrell will play the main character's nemesis, and Decker will play a girl Lipshitz likes.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
