'American Teenager,' 'Kyle XY' Return in January


ABC Family brings the drama back with two of its hit shows to ring in the new year.

"The Secret Life of the American Teenager" will return on a new day, Monday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m., while the third season of "Kyle XY" will premiere a week later on Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

"American Teenager," which became one of this summer's break-out hits, offers up 12 all-new episodes and will pick up from the mid-season finale. In the second half of the season, fans will see Amy (Shailene Woodley) and Ben's (Ken Baumann) wedding, Amy's discovery of her baby's gender, Anne (Molly Ringwald) telling George (Mark Derwin) about wanting a divorce, Ricky (Darren Kagasoff) continuing his rascally ways with Adrian (Francia Raisa) and Grace (Megan Park) and the arrival of Ricky's abusive father.

The show is ABC Family's No. 1 original series of all time across the board, averaging 4 million total viewers per episode this summer.

In "Kyle XY" world, Kyle (Matt Dallas) will have to contend with the price he has to pay for his special powers. Greater forces will push him to new levels and to sacrifice relationships with those he holds most dear. Also, viewers will discover the fate of his girlfriend Amanda (Kirsten Prout), who was kidnapped at prom.

Season Two of "Kyle XY" and the first 11 summer episodes of "American Teenager" will be released on DVD on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
