Only seven years ago, Kate Hudson was an Oscar darling. Now she's signed on to co-star in a romantic comedy with Dane Cook.
That's just a statement of fact with no value judgment attached.
According to Variety, Hudson will take the female lead in "Bachelor No. 2," a rom-com from Lionsgate and director Howard Deutch.
Although it's credited to Jordan B. Cahan, "Bachelor No. 2" appears to write itself. The plot focuses on a man (Dane Cook) who makes money taking ex-girlfriends out on awful dates and causing them to realize how much they miss their boyfriends. However, when he takes out the ex-girlfriend of his best friend, things get dicey. Is she impervious to all of his bad-date tricks? Does he fall for her? Oh, that will just be a surprise.
All similarities to Hudson's own "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" are clearly coincidental.
Shooting in Boston, "Bachelor No. 2" will begin production in August. Most recently seen in "The Skeleton Key" and "You, Me and Dupree," Hudson has "Fool's Gold" set for a February 2008 release.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
