Michelle Williams has come a long way from TV's "Dawson's Creek," as she proves with her accomplished portrayal of Marilyn Monroe - which earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination - in this Simon Curtis-directed tale of screen icon Monroe during the filming of the 1957 movie ""The Prince and the Showgirl."
Then recently wed to playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott), Monroe is helped by a production assistant (Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark, whose memoir inspired this film) who gets quite a different view of the actress away from the lights and cameras. Kenneth Branagh also was a recent Oscar nominee for his evocation here of another screen legend, Sir Laurence Olivier. Julia Ormond and Judi Dench also appear. *** (R: P) (Also on Blu-ray and Movies on Demand)Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
