'Prefontaine' vs. 'Without Limits

Year: 1997/98 Premise: The story of famous distance runner Steve Prefontaine The Verdict: Despite being released over 18 months apart, these still count as dueling movies because their storylines were so similar. Neither one was a box office smash and each has its own merits - Crudup ("Without") is generally regarded as a better Prefontaine than Jared Leto, but "Prefontaine" is known to be more historically accurate. Plus, they both had excellent actors as running coach Bill Bowerman - Donald Sutherland for "Without Limits" and R. Lee Ermey for "Prefontaine." We'll call this one a draw. -- Andrea Reiher, Zap2it
