Internet promotional machine (and stand-up comic) Dane Cook is in talks to star in the Lionsgate comedy "Bachelor No. 2."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project focuses on a guy named Tank (Cook), who makes ends meet by playing the greater of two evils -- dumped boyfriends hire him to take their ex-girlfriends out on awful dates so that the gals come crawling back to security. Naturally, one particular date doesn't go as planned.
Howard Deutch, whose credits range from the '80s classics "Pretty in Pink" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" to the scab comedy "The Replacements" and, most recently, "The Whole Ten Yards," will direct.
Loved and hated within the stand-up world, Cook's popularity on stage has yet to translate to big screen popularity in movies including "Waiting" and "Employee of the Month." He has a more serious turn in this week's "Mr. Brooks" before returning to comedy opposite Jessica Alba in "Good Luck Chuck."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
