The Fort Wayne man arrested in connection with the death of a 9-year-old girl pleaded guilty to her murder Friday.
Michael Plumadore, 39, was arrested on Dec. 26 after police said he confessed to killing Aliahna Lemmon.
Police said Plumadore admitted he used a brick to hit Lemmon in the head several times, before dismembering her body. According to the probable cause affidavit, Plumadore said he placed pieces of Lemmon's body in freezer bags, before disposing of them in a dumpster at a nearby business.
According to Fort Wayne’s Journal Gazette, Plumadore also pleaded guilty to removing a body from the scene of a violent or suspicious death and abuse of a corpse. Additionally, he admitted to being a habitual offender.
Lemmon’s family said Plumadore was a trusted family friend who was caring for the girl and her younger sister while their mother had the flu.
Plumadore’s guilty plea will take the possibility of the death penalty off the table.
