Chatard closes strong regular season in style

INDIANAPOLIS - Regular seasons don't always forecast what will happen in the playoffs correctly, but Vince Lorenzano hopes it will.

Over the course of nine games Chatard has looked the part of a two-time Class 3A state champion, defeating rival Cathedral and six others along the way.

The final one of those came on Friday night as the Trojans finished off the regular season in style with the 34-7 victory over Tech on Friday night. It completes a 7-2 regular season, the same record they finished with a season ago.

Chatard never let the Titans into the ballgame, a contest which was played at Tech but the Trojans were the designated home team. Up 14-0 in the second, Sam Neighbours took to the air to push the game open before the break.

He first hit Anthony LaRose for a 37-yard touchdown in the middle of the quarter to push the lead to 20-0. After Tech missed a field goal with just under two minutes to go, Neighbours brought the Trojans down the field again, thins time finding Sam Jost for a 38-yard score to make it 27-0.

It would be plenty for the Trojans' defense, who have allowed just a touchdown in each of their last three victories.

Chatard will hit the road for the start of Sectional 21 play at Danville next Friday while Tech opens the Class 5A playoffs at Perry Meridian.
