Best Singer/Songwriter: John Ryan
John Ryan really works his vocal cords to the limit. He fronts the wildly popular cover band Explicit; he lends his talents to Jimmy Hat when they need a male vocalist; and he's developing material for his new original band, Down Monday. "I probably had almost four or five years of not writing [original material] at all," says Ryan. "But then you have a week off and you start to get the bug and you wanna write." He describes Down Monday's sound as radio-friendly rock. "Some songs are acoustic-driven, along the lines of Lifehouse. But then the rock songs — maybe a Nickelback or a little edgier, modern rock like Breaking Benjamin kinda thing."
