1) W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home
The Klarman brothers, Jeffrey and John, are the fourth generation of their family to run the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home. They have a lot of history in Branford, but they just moved into a new facility in January of last year. The Klarman brothers and the rest of the staff at W.S. Clancy have gotten to know the community because they're part of the community. "That's our strongest selling point, the connection to the community," says Jeffrey. "We're very community focused. We've been there so long." Because they're family-owned and operated, and because they've been there for four generations, there's a trust and a familiarity that's built up. And, in the face of corporate overreach in the funeral home field, W.S. Clancy is strengthened by its old ties to the town. "When people have had a loss, they want to deal with people that they have some empathy with, people who are there to take care of their needs, not just take care of some bottom line."
