Best Apartment Complex

1) Taft Apartments

The Taft celebrates its 100th birthday this year, and its staff plans to celebrate all year long. In its days as a hotel in the early part of the 20th Century guests like Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Babe Ruth and Lassie are among the multitudes who've stayed there. Groucho Marx even had a monologue about getting kicked out of the Taft that involved pigeons and a lady friend (There's a link on to a video clip of Marx telling the story). The building is seeped in history. "Our owners have a demonstrated commitment to doing things the right way, moving into the future while still celebrating the past," says Lisa Drazen, Regional Manager at the Taft. Apartment dwellers at the Taft enjoy some of the best views in town, rising to 14 stories at the centrally located corner of the New Haven Green. Residents can choose a between a studio apartment, a one-bedroom or two-bedroom, all with New York style parquet floors and the round-the-clock customer service. The stained-glass dome in the lobby is rumored to be the largest piece of its type to come from Tiffany's studio, adding a bit of luxury to city life. A new restaurant will opening in the hotel late summer, right next to the Shubert, so keep your eyes open for that.
