April 28, 2009 Deputy Resigns After Wife Takes Patrol Car for a Joyride Lakeland, Fl - A woman who went on a Sunday morning car ride with two others cost her husband his job. Police say the trio cruised Lakeland in Deputy Charles 'Chip' Buckner's squad car. Buckner, 44, a 21-year veteran of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, resigned Monday following the arrest of his wife, Gail, his wife's mother and a young man.
