While playing with his son at a local gym, Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain suffered a serious ankle injury and was rushed into surgery, team officials said Friday.
Chamberlain, who had emergency surgery Thursday evening, is said to have suffered an open dislocation of his right ankle which most likely fractured as well.
There was no immediate timetable for recovery, General Manager Brian Cashman said.
"We're worried about him as an individual right now."
The injury will most likely push back Chamberlain's return to the bullpen which was slated for June or July.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
