A teen is in critical condition after she reportedly jumped out an eighth floor apartment window in the Stapleton section of Staten Island Thursday morning.
According to authorities, the victim believed to be 19-years-old, was one of three squatters who was attempting to flee New York City Housing Authority officials moments before the fall.
Several complaints were made about the squatters staying at the public housing building at 27 Warren Street, prompting housing authority officers to investigate, reports said.
A man managed to escape by climbing down a TV cable wire while a third person was taken into custody inside the housing unit.
The 19-year-old woman who jumped out the window, fell onto a second floor scaffolding. She was transported to Richmond University Medical Center where she is being treated for several broken bones including a broken pelvis and leg.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
