As firefighters battled a blaze at a Queens golf course overnight, authorities made a gruesome discovery of a dead body - just yards away - hanging from a tree, PIX News has learned.

According to FDNY officials, the flames broke out around 1:30 a.m. on the grounds of Kissena Park Golf Course in Queens, which is owned by the Parks department. The facility's club house and several golf carts were damaged in the suspicious two-alarm blaze.

The flames were quickly placed under control and as of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

About five hours after extinguishing the flames, a body was reportedly found hanging from a tree in the woods about a quarter mile from the scene of the fire.

Authorities do not believe the two incidents are connected. Police said the death is most likely a result of an apparent suicide.
