An armed man was shot by police officers outside a Bronx club early Friday moments after a large party let out, authorities said.
Cops say the large crowd was leaving a party at Cocoa House club on Edward L. Grant Highway when chaos ensued. Some reports say the party goers, believed to be up to 100 people, began to fight.
When officers arrived to the scene to respond to a large disorderly crowd, cops spotted Mamadou Valve, 20, holding what appeared to be a firearm which turned out to be a pellet gun.
According to police, officers opened fire on Valve after he refused to drop the weapon. According to reports, officers fired a total of 18 bullets, ten of them struck Valve.
The 20-year-old was transported to Lincoln Hospital where he is expected to survive, police said.
Officers were able to secure the weapon at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
