The stars of the Nickelodeon hit series and international recording artists Big Time Rush made an orange carpet appearance for the premiere screening event of their original TV movie, Big Time Movie. PIX11 was there for all the action. We wanted to get the scoop from the band about their US tour as well as what they are up to online.
We asked them if they were active on social media and all four members of the band are on both Twitter and Facebook. They said they do like to respond to their fans and enjoy the interaction that social media provides.
Stephen Glickman who plays the boys' manager on the series spoke with PIX11 and let know that every day is a blast and yes, the boys are his "dogs" in real life too. We asked him if we tweeted him if he'd retweet us, and true to his word, he did.
Among the fresh young stars walking the carpet was the new voice of Dora the Explorer. Fatima Ptacek told us that she is starting to get recognized more and more and she gave us one of Dora's most well known quotes, "Swiper, no swiping!"
Also in attendance were members of Brit boy band One Direction who are opening for BTR on tour. They told us their name came from texting each other potential names back and forth and that one stuck. They also said that they are similar to BTR in that their group also has the "smart one," the cheeky one," etc. Band member Harry Styles told us touring is a blast and the love being in the US.
Also opening for BTR is singer/songwriter Jackson Guthy who says he doesn't really get nervous when performing in front of large crowds. We asked the 16 year old if in addition to his younger fans if he was also getting a lot of attention from older fans and his grin told us the moms are definitely fans too.
PIX11 also spoke with Bianca Ryan from America's Got Talentand Emma Kenny from Shameless. These ladies were excited to meet the guys from BTR. We asked them about Twitter as well and they are both active on the social medium and say they try to read as many tweets as they can.
Some stars came out not necessarily as BTR fans, but rather as parents of fans. Al Roker brought his son, Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford brought her daughter and RHNY's Sonja Morgan brought all her children to the premiere.
