Obama Visit To NYC Could Effect Rush Hour

When President Barack Obama lands at JFK Airport around 5PM today, he'll spend a whirlwind 6 hours in the Big Apple raising money. It will be the President's third trip to New York in the last month.

On the agenda is a big ticket fundraiser at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel hosted by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. He will also attend a fundraiser at a private home on the Upper Eastside before ending the day meeting fans at a concert of the Hip Hop Soul Band the Roots, before heading back to JFK at 11PM.

During the visit, Obama's motorcade could force the closure of the FDR and parts of the East Side from 5PM to 5:30PM. Complicating matters is a Yankees game at 7PM in the Bronx.

Also, Fifth Avenue from East 89th to East 59th streets will be closed from 6 to 7:30PM and Central Park's transverse roads along all avenues from York to Fifth could be blocked during that period.

Since 2008, Obama has raised $42 million from generous New Yorkers. He formally announced his 2012 reelection campaign earlier this month.
