It was supposed to be a fun visit for the three friends of Karolyn Encarnacion's two daughters. It turned into a nightmare late Wednesday night when James Snead, 43, shot and killed Encarnacion and then killed himself, according to police.
The murder-suicide investigation started after police responded to a call at 11:43 p.m. of a shooting at 321 Brook Avenue, Apartment 1A in Bay Shore. They found the bodies of Snead and his former girlfriend both dead of gunshot wounds, Suffolk County Police said.
They were also told that the two daughters, ages 12 and 14, were in the apartment with their three friends when they heard a woman scream and shots fired in the bedroom.
The children all left the apartment and a neighbor called police, according to authorities.
The investigation is continuing.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
